Tips for Choosing a Security System

There are a lot of different reasons that people get a security system. Many people are noticing that break ins are occurring at an alarming rate. For others it is about having the piece of mind knowing that you are protected. No matter what your reason for getting a security system, there are a few things in a security system that you want to watch for. Here are a few things that you want to look for in your security system.

Control Panel

There are a few different things that you want to look for in a control panel because is, by far, the most important part of your system. The first thing that you want to make sure that it has is a cellular chip. Old security systems would run through a land line, but if the land line was cut, then the alarm would not be able to reach authorities. You also want to make sure that it has an anti smash and grab features. If it does not have an anti smash and grab feature, then a burglar will be able to smash the control panel to disarm the security system. Another thing that you want your control panel to have is a voice-over feature. This is where the monitoring station is able to come over the speaker on the control panel and check if everything is okay. Obviously, if there is a burglar in the area, they will ignore it, in which case the monitoring agent will dispatch help right away.

Automation Capabilities

The technology that has advanced in the past couple of years is truly amazing. Your system should be able to be controlled by a smart phone or a computer. You will be able to have complete control of your entire system. If you are laying in bed and forgot to arm your system, you can do it from your bed. You will also be able to see what portions of your system are activated and which parts or functioning properly. Along with the automation feature, comes a lot of new security equipment that you can add to your system. If your system has automation features, then you can activate video cameras and automatic locking deadbolts on your doors. The possibilities truly are many when you have an automation system.
